Terms & Conditions of Service

Version: 1.0
Effective: January 2026
Governing law: Ireland

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of skipnow.ie ("the Site") and the skip hire booking service ("the Service") operated by SkipNow.ie ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Site or booking a skip through us, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Please read these Terms carefully before placing a booking. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site or book a skip through us.

Our role — please read this first

SkipNow.ie is a booking intermediary. We connect customers seeking skip hire with a network of independently licensed waste-collection operators across Ireland. We are not ourselves the operator delivering the skip.

When you book through us, a contract is formed between you and the local licensed operator we match you with. We facilitate that booking, handle the permit application where required, and provide customer support throughout — but the actual skip delivery, collection and waste disposal is carried out by the licensed operator. Our role is similar to a booking platform (think of how Booking.com works for hotels).

1. Definitions

2. Booking process

To make a booking you must:

  1. Enter a valid Eircode for the delivery address;
  2. Select a skip size and skip type appropriate for your waste;
  3. Provide accurate contact and delivery information;
  4. Pay the fixed price quoted at the time of booking;
  5. Agree to these Terms.

A booking is confirmed only when you receive a confirmation email or SMS from us containing a booking reference number. Until then, no contract exists.

3. Pricing & payment

The price displayed for your Eircode at the time of booking is fixed and includes:

The price does not include:

Payment is taken at the time of booking via Stripe. We do not store payment card details. Receipts and VAT invoices are issued by email.

4. Skip permits — Customer responsibility

If your skip will be placed on a public road, footpath, or paid-parking bay, a skip permit from the relevant local authority is required by law.

The Customer is solely responsible for applying for the skip permit and paying the permit fee directly to the local council. SkipNow.ie does not apply for permits on the Customer's behalf and does not collect council permit fees as part of the booking price.

For Kildare County Council, permit applications are made via kildarecoco.ie/AllServices/Transport/RoadOpenings or by calling 045 980200. Each county council has its own application process — we will publish the relevant link on each county service page.

Standard council processing time is 3-5 working days; longer for permits requiring paid-parking-bay suspensions. Bookings made before the Customer has secured a valid permit may be delayed or, if delivery is attempted to a permit-required location without a permit in place, may incur a failed-delivery charge under Section 5.

The Customer is also responsible for ensuring the skip is placed in compliance with the terms of any permit issued. You must not move the skip from the location specified on the permit. Any fines, penalties, removal costs, or third-party claims arising from placing a skip on public land without a valid permit are the Customer's sole liability.

5. Delivery & collection

Standard delivery is 1-4 working days from the booking date for any address within our service area. Same-day or next-day delivery is sometimes possible for bookings placed before 11am where operator availability allows, but is not guaranteed.

Delivery is dependent on: operator availability, road and traffic conditions, weather, the Customer providing accurate access information, and (for permit-required locations) the Customer having a valid council permit in place on the delivery date.

Where a skip permit is required and the Customer has not secured a valid permit by the agreed delivery date, SkipNow.ie reserves the right to postpone delivery until the permit is in place or to apply a failed-delivery charge if the operator is dispatched in good faith.

You are responsible for:

If access is obstructed on the agreed delivery date and the Operator cannot deliver, a failed-delivery charge of €40-€80 may apply.

6. Cancellations & refunds

If we are unable to fulfil your booking due to operator unavailability, area coverage issues, or any other reason on our side, you will receive a full refund within 5 working days.

7. Prohibited waste

The following items must not be placed in any skip booked through us:

Asbestos (any form)
Paint tins (full or empty)
Solvents, oils, chemicals
Batteries (car, household, mobile)
Fridges, freezers, air conditioners
Televisions, monitors, electronics (WEEE)
Tyres
Gas cylinders / aerosol cans
Medical / clinical waste
Plasterboard in mixed-waste skip (separate skip needed)
Fluorescent tubes, light bulbs
Hazardous waste of any kind

If prohibited waste is found in a skip, the Operator reserves the right to:

If you're unsure whether something can go in your skip, please ask us before loading it.

8. Weight limits

Each skip size has a maximum weight tolerance set by the Operator and the licensed transfer station. As a guide:

Overweight loads may be refused at the transfer station or charged at €40-€80 per tonne over the limit. For loads with a high proportion of rubble or soil, we recommend a 4-yard or 6-yard maximum to avoid overweight issues.

9. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

10. Operator relationship

The Operator delivering your skip is an independent EPA-licensed waste-collection company. They are responsible for the physical delivery, collection, and licensed disposal of waste from your skip. Their own terms of operation apply alongside these Terms.

Where there is a dispute about delivery, collection, or damage caused by the Operator's vehicle or staff, we will mediate between you and the Operator to reach a resolution. If mediation fails, the Customer may pursue the Operator directly — we will provide the Operator's contact details and licence number on request.

11. Customer obligations

  1. Provide accurate booking information (Eircode, contact details, skip type).
  2. Disclose any access issues, underground services or surface restrictions before delivery.
  3. Do not place prohibited waste in the skip.
  4. Do not move the skip from the agreed delivery location.
  5. Do not overfill the skip past the load line.
  6. Pay any additional charges that arise (overweight, prohibited waste, hire extensions) within 14 days of invoice.

12. Data & privacy

How we collect, use, and protect your personal data is set out in our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. By booking through us, you consent to your booking details being shared with the matched Operator and (where applicable) the local council for permit purposes.

13. Force majeure

Neither party is liable for failure to perform under these Terms due to events outside their reasonable control — including weather events, strikes, transport disruption, governmental restrictions, public health emergencies, or operator insolvency. In such cases we will reschedule the booking or issue a refund.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version applicable to your booking is the one in force on the date of your booking. The latest version is always available at skipnow.ie/terms-conditions.

15. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any dispute arising under or in connection with them will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.

If you have a complaint that cannot be resolved through our customer support, you may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

  • We don't deliver the skip — a licensed local operator does
  • Prohibited waste = asbestos, paint, batteries, fridges, electronics, chemicals
  • Cancellation: free up to 24h before, partial 12-24h, none after delivery
  • Your data: we share only with the matched operator (we do not share data with councils for permits — you apply for those yourself)
